In the Grenadines, sailing passages become short, scenic hops between islands. Each spot is less than an hour apart, and you can often wingfoil or kite between islands alongside the catamaran. The route follows the wind, turning every passage into part of the adventure. Help sail the boat or simply relax and enjoy the view. Mayreau Garden is a spectacular turquoise lagoon protected by coral reefs, creating a vast playground of flat water. With no nearby villages and almost no boats, it feels like you have the Caribbean entirely to yourself.

The sheltered lagoon is one of the safest and most versatile kite and wingfoil spots in the Grenadines. We usually launch directly from the catamaran, keeping your equipment free of sand and getting you on the water within minutes.

Whether you’re cruising comfortably, learning new tricks, or simply building confidence, the expansive lagoon provides ideal conditions. For more experienced riders, Mayreau Garden is also the starting point for one of our favourite downwinders, following the catamaran towards Union Island or Palm Island through crystal-clear Caribbean waters.

Union Island is the lively heart of the Grenadines, with local bars, waterfront restaurants and a bustling market offering a glimpse into everyday island life. Explore ashore, stock up at the mini market, or simply enjoy the relaxed Caribbean atmosphere..

The kite spot is a shallow, flat-water lagoon with some of the most consistent wind in the Grenadines. With numerous catamarans often anchored in the lagoon, it is primarily an advanced riders’ spot, offering excellent freeride conditions for those comfortable riding around boats.

Beginner lessons are possible with an instructor, who can select the safest area and conditions for learning. Intermediate riders are advised to kite outside the lagoon in the open water, where there is considerably more space to manoeuvre.

Just a few minutes upwind lies Palm Island, where side-shore wind and clean left-hand waves provide excellent conditions for advanced wave riders.

Union is also home to the famous Happy Island, a tiny man-made bar built on a conch-shell foundation, where we’ve enjoyed countless sunset drinks while watching local kitesurfers jump over the island.

From here, we also begin one of our favourite downwinders to Frigate — another unforgettable ride through the Grenadines.

Fregate is the Grenadines’ ultimate flat-water playground, where crystal-clear water, reliable wind and a vast open lagoon create ideal conditions for everyone from first-time riders to experienced freestylers.

Fregate offers the flattest and safest kiteboarding conditions in the Grenadines. With no villages or boat traffic nearby, the expansive turquoise lagoon is almost entirely dedicated to kitesurfing and wingfoiling. The offshore wind is fully supported by our rescue boat, giving riders the confidence to explore the entire area.

Reaching Fregate is part of the experience. It’s a scenic 30-minute sail from Union Island, while advanced riders can downwind the whole way through shallow, crystal-clear water alongside the catamaran.

The spacious lagoon is ideal for every level of rider. Beginners enjoy the safe, forgiving conditions, while experienced kiters and wingfoilers have endless room to practise new tricks or simply enjoy long cruising sessions. Nearby Fregate Rock also offers excellent snorkelling, with large schools of tropical fish gathering around the reef.

When conditions are good, we often spend two days riding at Fregate before anchoring for the evening in nearby Chatham Bay. With its relaxed beach bars, fresh seafood and laid-back atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to unwind after a full day on the water before returning to Fregate for another session the following morning.

Mopion Island Kite Spots Petit Saint Vincent

Morpion is a tiny sand cay surrounded by brilliant turquoise water and coral reefs, making it one of the Grenadines’ most iconic day stops and a favourite for riders, snorkellers and photographers alike.

About an hour’s sail from Fregate, Morpion is little more than a pristine sandbar with a single thatched umbrella, yet it has become one of the most photographed spots in the Grenadines. Surrounded by crystal-clear water and vibrant coral reefs, it perfectly captures the image of a deserted Caribbean island.

As there is no protected anchorage, Morpion is enjoyed as a daytime stop before continuing to our overnight destination. It’s the perfect place to swim, snorkel, relax on the beach and take in the spectacular surroundings.

Expert kitesurfers can ride inside the shallow lagoon, while intermediate riders launch directly from the catamaran and explore the open water outside the reef. The surrounding coral reefs are also home to abundant marine life, making this an excellent snorkelling stop.

Before the day ends, we often stop at nearby Petit St. Vincent for sunset cocktails, a relaxed way to finish one of the most scenic days of the cruise before sailing on to our next anchorage.

I think this reads better because it explains why you don’t stay overnight (no protected anchorage) rather than making it sound like you’re leaving too soon. That feels more natural and reassures guests that it’s by design.

More than just a kiteboarding stop, the Tobago Cays offer exceptional snorkeling, abundant marine life and is one of the most spectacular anchorages you’ll find anywhere in the Caribbean.

The Tobago Cays Marine Park is a protected group of four uninhabited islands surrounded by shallow turquoise lagoons and colourful coral reefs. Calm, crystal-clear water makes it the perfect place to swim alongside green sea turtles, eagle rays and an abundance of tropical fish straight from the catamaran.

For kitesurfers, lighter wind days offer a truly unique experience. The water becomes almost mirror-flat and so transparent that you can often watch turtles gliding beneath your board as you ride across the lagoon. The snorkelling is equally spectacular, with healthy reefs and abundant marine life only a few fin kicks from the beach.

Away from the water, a short walk to the hilltops rewards you with panoramic views over the reefs, lagoons and surrounding Grenadine islands. In the evenings, local fishermen host their famous lobster barbecue on the beach, accompanied by live music, rum punch and an unforgettable Caribbean atmosphere. It’s one of those magical evenings that guests remember long after their holiday ends.

The lagoon at Mayreau is one of the most versatile riding areas in the Grenadines. Depending on the swell, you’ll find everything from smooth cruising water to playful kickers that are perfect for boosting jumps. It’s also the starting point for one of our favourite downwinders to Union Island, allowing you to link two incredible kite spots in a single session.

Away from the water, Mayreau has a completely different character. With only a few hundred residents, life moves at a relaxed Caribbean pace. A short walk takes you to the island’s tiny hilltop village, where panoramic views stretch across the Tobago Cays, Union Island and the surrounding reefs. It’s the perfect place to appreciate just how unique this part of the Caribbean really is.

To guarantee the best chance of wind we run kite cruises from late November to July during the Trade Wind season. Average winds are 15 – 22 kts with the strongest winds from Christmas to March. June is the month with most consistency.

Frankly this trip was really magic. The crew did all their best to make us happy. Everyone is still amazed by the meals prepared by the chef. The boat is very clean and comfortable. The wind was there at required time and strength. The beauty of the Grenadines was astonishing along the different visited islands and the captain adapted really smartly our itinerary to provide us with the best kiting conditions.

Discovering the Grenadines in a catamaran and kitesurfing all day long was one of the best trips ever! Our boat was awesome and the crew were even better. The landscapes, the kiting conditions, the great weather and the sailing was once in a lifetime adventure!

This was the best kiteboarding cruise! The captain and chef taught me how to back roll with style and made sure we all had the best kite conditions (and Sushi!). The spots were better than in the movies, every photo looked like a postcard. Definitely recommend it!
