Best Kiteboarding Spots
The Caribbean is a huge geographical area so which are the best places to go for a kite cruise?
Most charter boats limit themselves to one destination or group of destinations. However, the specialist charter boats generally ‘follow’ the wind by starting the season in the North and gradually relocating to the South to offer variety and maximum wind exposure.
For those wanting waves the best months in the Caribbean are December to February when the swell is best in the Northern Islands such as BVI or Barbuda. Barbados is also a great wave spot however there are no anchorages for sail boats near the kite spots. The Grenadines also offer fun wave conditions however they are smaller and less frequent.
Most of the islands offer outstanding freeride conditions and ultra flat freestyle spots. Personal favorites have to be Union Island in the Grenadines and Anegada in BVI.
For those who like to ride a little more offshore some destinations offer great island hopping possibilities. The Grenadines is number one as it is possible to kite between nearly all of the islands with the catamaran acting as safety boat.
