Kite Surfari (www.kite-surfari.com) was born in Margarita, Venezuela when ‘Captain Rik’ was teaching kitesurfing and living aboard his 47 ft sailing yacht ‘Dakunha’. The trips started out with kitesurfing daysails from Margarita to the nearby islands of Coche and Cubagua. The success of these day excursions quickly led to longer adventures to the islands of Tortuga and Los Roques which boast some of the best kiteboarding spots in the Caribbean.
In 2011, due to the increasing security issues and instability in Venezuela, Kite-surfari decided to relocated its operations to the safer eastern Caribbean islands of the Grenadines, the Virgin Islands and Antigua & Barbuda. As a result Kite Surfari created its new brand ‘Caribbean Kite Cruise’ (www.caribbeankitecruise.com). Today Caribbean Kite Cruise has expanded its fleet to 3 privately owned catamarans and is based in union Island in the heart of the Grenadines.
At the time of writing we have just finished a great 2019 season and continue to be the Caribbean’s leading kite cruise specialist. The winds have been great all year and we’ve had the pleasure of making new friends from all corners of the world. Due to popular demand we will soon be offering a spectacular new destination for our kiteboarding charters. Watch this space…
Captain Rik is originally from the UK but has spent the last 25 years living in warmer climates and following his passion for watersports and the sea. Previously a windsurf and kite instructor he continues to cruise the Caribbean in search of the best kite destinations.
